"Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director General Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) visited ICAR-NBPGR Regional Station Shimla on April 28, 2024. Upon arrival, Dr. Mohar Singh Principal Scientist and Officer In-charge extended a warm welcome and provided an overview of the station's on-going activities including thrust area. Dr. Pathak also interacted with the staff of the station on various initiatives being undertaken by the station. He also visited the laboratory, greenhouses and medium-term storage (MTS) facilities maintained at the station. During the visit, an exhibition showcasing the diversity of agri-horticultural crops was presented by Dr. Narender Negi, Mr. Dayal Singh, Mr. Ram Chander, and Mr. Sukh Dev, which received lot of appreciation. Dr. Pathak praised the efforts of NBPGR Shimla team and offered valuable suggestions for enhancing the station's activities. He emphasized PGR utilization keeping in view of future needs and projections, so that genetic resources must become a progenitors for revolutionary progress of Indian agriculture in general and hill agriculture in particular.
