Germplasm Field Day on Kharif Pulses organized at ICAR- NBPGR, Regional Station, Shimla on 17th August, 2018

The Germplasm Field Day on Kharif pulses (French bean, Rice bran and Adzuki bean) was organized at ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), Regional Station, Shimla on 17th August, 2018. The field day was attended by eighteen participants from 6 organizations namely Shere-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAS&T), Jammu; Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana; Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHKV) Palampur, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, NBPGR Headquarters New Delhi; and ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur. Dr. Mohar Singh, Principal Scientist & OIC of Regional Station welcomed participants and informed about the germplasm being grown at the Station. Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Director, ICAR-NBPGR emphasized the importance of germplasm and field days for their effective utilization. Dr. N. P. Singh, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulse Research emphasized the need of evaluation for selecting trait specific germplasm and use in crop improvement. The participants visited in the field and assessed on spot variability/ traits for their ongoing crop improvement programmes. During feedback and interaction session, the participants appreciated the efforts of ICAR-NBPGR, RS Shimla in showcasing the diversity at appropriate stage. The Field Day was ended with the vote of thanks made by Dr Ashok Kumar, Head Division of Germplasm Evaluation, NBPGR New Delhi.
