Report of The Training program on “Enhancing Efficiency and Behavioural Skills of Skilled Supporting Staff” organised at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi from 17-19, 2018

A three-days training program on “Enhancing efficiency and behavioural skills of Skilled Supporting Staff (SSS)” was organised at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi from September 17-19, 2018.

Dr S.C. Dubey, Officiating Director, ICAR-NBPGR, inaugurated the training program, which was attended by 24 participants from ICAR-NBPGR, ICAR-IARI, ICAR-IASRI and ICAR-DKMA, New Delhi.

During inaugural function, Dr S.K. Kaushik, HRD Nodal Officer, ICAR-NBPGR, briefed about the training program, wherein lectures on relevant topics to enhance the efficiency and behavioural skills of SSS were scheduled along with demonstrations and hands-on training. He placed on record an appreciation for the efforts made by Dr Sandeep Kumar and Dr Sherry Jacob, Course Co-coordinators, for planning and execution of the training.

Dr S.C. Dubey in his inaugural address appreciated the activities of HRD cell in organising not only this program, but also other training programs and getting all categories of NBPGR staff trained in ICAR institutes and SAUs. He particularly appreciated the course content of the present program and requested that all the SSS of the Bureau may be trained in due course of time by organising such programs every year.

The valedictory function, chaired by Dr A.K. Vyas, ADG (HRM), was held on September 19, 2018. Dr S.K. Kaushik presented the training report giving details of lectures delivered and hands-on demonstration organised on values/ethics, communication skills with higher officers/staff, stress and conflict management, health issues, Swachitha Abhiyan, handling of computer and office automation devices, self-motivation, interpersonal skills and service rules awareness that were delivered by Senior Administrative Officers from ICAR-HQs, ICAR-NBPGR, ICAR-IARI and ICAR-DKMA. In his remarks, Dr A.K. Vyas, Chief Guest, appreciated the efforts made by HRD cell for conducting training program and advised to include more practical sessions on handling computer, laboratory and field visits in the future programs. He also suggested to increase the duration of the training program. He distributed certificates to the participants. Dr. Rekha Chaudhary, Officiating Director, appreciated the efforts on conducting training program for the first time for SSS and asked HRD cell to continue the same efforts in future training programs.

The training program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sherry Jacob.
