Visit of farmers in Krishi Unnati Mela at IARI, New Delhi under MGMG

On 6.3.2019, farmers from Issapur village of Haryana state visited ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi and Pusa Kirshi Unnati Mela at IARI, New Delhi. Dr. Mool Chand Singh, Principal Scientist welcomed the farmers and briefed about the activities of ICAR-NBPGR and Pusa Kirshi Unnati Mela. Director, ICAR-NBPGR, Dr. Kuldeep Singh briefed them about the plant genetic resources and their role in agriculture. Dr. SC Dubey, Head, Division of Plant Quarantine and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Head, Division of Germplasm Evaluation has also addressed about the value of germplasm/local crop landraces, need for their conservation and their role in crop improvement. The farmers informed about the crops and cropping systems, problems of diseases and pests in their crops as well as inputs they need for the forthcoming cropping season. The farmers were suggested to grow such crops which have good demand in the market. Subsequently, farmers visited Pusa Kirshi Unnati Mela where new technologies and seeds of new varieties were displayed. The farmers also interacted with the Scientists/experts of different disciplines available in Mela ground.
