Celebrated Kisan Diwas at ICAR-NBPGR, Exp. Station Issapur, New Delhi

Kisan Diwas was celebrated by organizing one day training programme on “Establishment of Nursery of Horticultural crops” at NBPGR, Exp. Station Issapur, New Delhi on 23rd December 2019. Around 150 local farmers belonging to Issapur, Samaspur, looksar, Dhansa, Mudela, Gummanheda were participated in the training. Dr. Vijay Singh Meena, Scientist & OIC, Issapur farm, briefed about training and welcomed Chief Guest of the function Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Director, NBPGR, New Delhi and all invited speakers. During inaugural session Dr. Kuldeep Singh, stressed on importance of germplasm /local varieties/Local perennial plants under changing climatic condition and role of perennial crops for ecology maintenance. Dr. Kuldeep Singh urged farmers to share their local varieties and perennial plant resources with bureau. Dr. Gurenderjit Randhawa, Nodal Officer, SCSP briefed activities under SCSP. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Head, DGE spoke on about ongoing farm activities at exp. station of NBPGR, Issapur Farm. Dr. S.P. Ahlawat, Head, Exploration and Dr. S.C.Dubey, Head, PQD also graced the occasion and interacted with farmers. Three guest speaker from IARI, Dr. K.P Singh, Dr. Kanhaiya Singh and Dr. Mahesh Meena delivered lecture on importance flower, fruit and soil management practices in Horticulture nursery and management. Dr. P.K. Gupta Head KVK, Ujwa and his team delivered lecture on nursery practices undertaken before establishment of nursery and after establishment of plants in orchards. Dr. Gupta assured all support for farmers for establishment of nursery, orchards to processing of horticulture produce. Dr. U.C. Sharma Head, KVK, Jhajhar and staff from KVK, Sikohpur also attended the programme. On this occasion seed kit, gardening kit and fruit plants were distributed in presence of local village Pradhans. During the interactive session, experts gave detail information regarding propagation techniques, disease and insect management for healthy nursery. Scientist from NBPGR discussed farmer’s problems and advised them for use of suitable practices. Farmers expressed their happiness and satisfaction about activities carried out by NBPGR, New Delhi and requested to organise such training every year.
