ICAR-NBPGR Regional Station Ranchi participated in two days Kisan Mela-cum-Technology and Machinery Exhibition-2020 organised by ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums (IINRG), Ranchi

ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, Regional Station, Ranchi participated in two days Kisan Mela-cum-Technology and Machinery Exhibition-2020 organised by ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums (IINRG), Ranchi in association with National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Khunti during 13-14th February, 2020 at IINRG, Ranchi. We participated in the exhibition and put up the diversity collected and live samples of diversity conserved in field gene-bank for display.
The Mela was inaugurated by Shri Alamgir Aalam, Hon’ble Minister, Rural Development Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary Work, Government of Jharkhand on 13th February 2020. Shri Badal Patralekh, Hon’ble Minister, Agriculture, Cooperatives, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Government of Jharkhand; Shri Sanjay Seth, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Ranchi; Shri Rajesh Kachhap, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.After inaugural function the distinguished guests, farmers and other invitees visited different stalls. Dr. S. B. Choudhary OIC, described our mandate and the efforts we are putting in to collect conserve and characterized the diversity in agri-horticultural crops of Jharkhand and the adjoining areas,to the distinguished visitors and how it can help the farmers, researchers and common people as well. They showed interest in the exhibits that we had put on display especially the rice landraces diversity, foxtail millets, various medicinal crops and the live samples of horticultural crops such as jackfruit, tamarind, bael etc. Many framers could connect with the diversity on display as they shared their information about the landraces, they used to grow but is completely lost in their areas. The mela-cum-exhibition ended with felicitation of farmers on 14th February 2020. Scientists Ms.Shephalika Amrapali, Mrs Reshmi Raj K. R., and technical staffs Mr. Ashok Kumar Gupta, Mr. Narendra Ram and Ashwini Kumar participated in the mela for two days.
