ICAR-NBPGR and Grey 2 Greens Foundation sign a MoU for “Highway Genebank”

The MoU was signed with the aim to promote the concept of Highway Genebank and both parties have a common mission to maintain and conserve the plant genetic resources, biological diversity, planting the indigenous plant resources. The MoU was signed by the Director, NBPGR Dr Kuldeep Singh and President, G2G Mr. Shubhendu Shekkhar Awasthi. Both parties have entered into a collaboration and intend to effectively play their individual roles as per the specified Terms and Conditions of each individual project and implement those projects meeting mandate of ICAR-NBPGR in different public and private sectors like Agriculture, Water Resources, Forest and Environment, Rural Development, Industries, Tribal development, Panchayat Raj, and National Highway Authority under various schemes. G2G Foundation will identify potential target clients relevant to increasing green cover vis-à-vis conservation of plant genetic resources and approach State/ National/ International Agencies for getting projects, consultancy assignments; participate in EOIs/ Tenders called by different Govt./ Semi Govt./ National and International Funding Agencies, and do liaisoning to implement various projects in the areas of Plantation, Agroforestry, Agriculture, Environment, Livelihood Improvement, supply of various seeds, planting materials, and any other material as demanded from time to time. ICAR-NBPGR will make efforts to provide/ source the seeds/ propagules of germplasm of various trees, medicinal & aromatic crops, grass species from its sister organizations, which are suitable for raising at the project site. Raising of nursery, grafting of scion materials shall be the responsibility of G2G. The technical guidance for plant propagation will be provided by ICAR-NBPGR or its sister organizations within National Agricultural Research System of the country.
