ICAR-NBPGR, RS Shimla organized one day camp on “Biodiversity and PGR awareness” for Farmers of Bagi Panchayat, District Shimla under SCSP Scheme on 17/04/21

One day farmer’s awareness camps on “Biodiversity and PGR awareness” organized by ICAR-NBPGR, Shimla on 17/04/21 at Bagi Panchayat, District Shimla under Scheduled cast sub plan. Around 200 farmers from various villages of Bagi panchayat attended the programme. Farmers were sensitized on importance of Biodiversity and PGR on food and nutritional security. Dr. Mohar Singh, Pr. Scientist & OIC of the station delivered keynote address on objective of programme and welcomed chief guest Dr. P. Kaushal, Vice Chancellor, Dr. YSPHUF, Nauni, Solan and other dignitaries and expert. Dr. D.P. Sharma, Pr. Scientist, Fruit Science, Dr. YSPHUF, Nauni, Solan delivered lecture on various fruit production technology pertaining to Solan and Shimla condition. Dr. K Pramanick, Pr. Scientist ICAR-IARI, Shimla delivered the lecture on system of planting in Stone fruits, Apple and Nut crops and field operations such as pruning, training and nursery management. Dr. Narender Negi delivers the talk on conservation and utilization of wild fruits in relation to nutritional security. Dr. Rahul Chandora delivered the lecture on conservation, utilization and popularization of pseudocereal and minor pulses for dietary diversification. Dr. Akshay Dhawan, Verterinary Officer, Block Mashobra, District Shimla sensitized farmers on Livestock diversification and various government scheme to increase farmers income through livestock production and management. Dr. Badal Singh, coordinator of the programme, coordinated stage and lectures and delivers the talk on conservation and utilization of Biodiversity in nutritional security. Dr. Nikhil Malhotra, Sh. Ashwini and Sh. Mangat Ram perform management of registration, distribution and exhibition stalls. In this programme, 1 hand operated Knapsack Sprayer,1 sickel and 1 seed packet of grain Amaranth were distributed to 120 scheduled cast farmers beneficiary identified by village Panchyat. Food packets were distributed and programme was organized following standard operating procedure announced by district administration in view of Covid 19 Pandemic situation. Camp was wrap up after vote of thanks by Sh. Naresh Thakur, Pardhan and Sh. Deshraj, Village Deputy Pradhan of Bagi Panchayat. Photography of programme was performed by Sh.
