ICAR-NBPGR has organized a lecture on “Composting of Municipal Solid Wastes for Improvement of Soil Health” by Dr. G. Selvakumar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru on December 22, 2021 at 11:30 AM in virtual mode using Zoom platform and YouTube link. Seventy five scientists/technical/ administrative/ project staff of headquarters and Regional Stations attended the lecture. Dr Ashok Kumar, Director, ICAR-NBPGR has welcomed the speaker and participants. Dr. V. Celia Chalam, Head, Division of Plant Quarantine has introduced the speaker. Dr Selvakumar has given details about Municipal Solid Waste Policy (2016) Rules, Central Monitoring Committee, feasible options for handling of organic fraction of municipal solid wastes (MSW), composting systems for MSW, composting domestic waste using Kambha etc. Dr Selvakumar has also showed video on composting domestic waste using Kambha . This was followed by Question & Answer Session and Dr Kavita Gupta, OIC, PME Cell has proposed vote of thanks.
