Observance of National Girl Child Day (Virtual mode) on 24 January 2022 at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi

National Girl Child Day was observed at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi on 24 January 2022. Dr. Lalit Arya, Principal Scientist, Division of Genomic Resources & Member, Women Welfare Committee, ICAR-NBPGR welcomed all the speakers and participants. Female achievers working in different fields Ms Surabhi Rai, Conservator of Forests, Delhi; Ms Sobhana Nair, Senior Political Correspondent, The Hindu; Dr. Neetu Jain, Senior Consultant, PSRI, New Delhi; Squadron Leader Sharda, Retd, Air Force; Major Anusha Iyenger, Indian Army; Ms Arshia Kaul, Software Engineer, PeopleStrong shared their views about the empowerment of girl child in respective fields and also about the challenges faced by them. PGR students Latif Bashir and Nitika Kalia; Dr. Veena Gupta, Professor, PGR recited poems on this programme. Ms. Manika Sharma, class 6, St. Thomas' Girls Senior Secondary School, Mandir Marg, New Delhi gave an inspirational speech to mark the occasion. More than 70 people participated in the programme. Dr. Gurinderjit Randhawa, Head, Division of Genomic Resources, ICAR-NBPGR shared her experiences and encouraged the youngsters. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director (Acting), ICAR-NBPGR appreciated all the speakers for their contribution to the society and expressed his gratitude towards the speakers to grace the occasion. Formal vote of thanks was given by Dr. Sherry Jacob, Senior Scientist, Division of Germplasm Conservation, ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi.
