On the Occasion of National Science Day, ICAR- NBPGR RS Jodhpur Organised PGR awareness programme for Balesar Tehsil (Jodhpur) farmers.

One day PGR awareness programme for schedule caste farming community of Balesar tehsil of Jodhpur district was successfully organized on 28th February 2022, under SCSP Scheme at ICAR- NBPGR Regional Station Jodhpur, Rajasthan. This programme was attended by approximately 100 farmers, including 49 female participants. Dr. Vijay Singh Meena, Officer In-Charge, ICAR-NBPGR Regional Station Jodhpur welcomed participating farmers and briefed about activities being run by NBPGR by whole and Regional station Jodhpur in particular. Dr. Veena Gupta, Head, Division of Germplasm Conservation addressed the farmers on virtual mode and emphasized on importance of conservation of PGR and status of germplasm of different crop in National Gene Bank. Dr. Bhagirath Choudhary, Director, SABC Jodhpur graced the occasion as chief guest. He gave detailed lecture in respect of organic farming, water management techniques, subsidies being offered by Govt for uplifting of SC a farmers and adoption of mixed farming system. Dr. Ghanshyam, Agriculture officer, Department of Horticulture, Jodhpur briefed about all schemes pertaining to establishment of orchard and processing units particularly for SC community farmers. Dr. S. K. Moond, Associate Professor, AU Jodhpur explained about scientific establishment of lemon plant. Dr. Seema Kumar, representative of Director, AFRI Jodhpur gave detailed information to farmers about nursery management practices. Dr. N. K. Dwivedi, Former OIC, RS, Jodhpur emphasized importance PGR pertaining to arid climate . Farmers were brought to experimental field for showing live variability of mustard and fenugreek. The problems of farmers were also addressed during feedback session. Agricultural tool (Phawada, Sickle), bag, tarpaulin, torch and lemon fruit seedlings were distributed to the farmers. Shri Bhanwar Ram Ji, Ward Panch, Village Jasti appreciated the conservation activities of the Station. Shri Paras Ram, Ward Panch village Aagolai admired the collection of seed variability displayed at Station. Dr. Neelam Shekhawat coordinated the programme.
