Visit of Department-Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change to ICAR_NBPGR on 29th June 2022

Distinguished members of Department-Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change visited National Gene Bank at ICAR- National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi under the chairmanship of Shri. Jairam Ramesh, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha along with members of the committee. They were accompanied by Dr T Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE, DG ICAR, Dr TR Sharma, DDG (Crop Sciences), Dr AK Singh, Director, IARI, Dr DK Yadava, ADG (Seed) and other officials from ICAR, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change. Members were welcomed by Dr Ashok Kumar, Director ICAR-NBPGR along with Heads of divisions. The chairman interacted with scientists regarding indigenous crops and climate resilient crops of India and their importance. Later they have visited the National Gene Bank facilities of ICAR-NBPGR where they were given tour to Cryo gene bank facility and long-term storage of seed gene bank. The chairman appreciated the work carried out in the institute. This visit is part of local study visit of the committee to ICAR institutes.
