An “Awareness-cum-training program on conservation of plant genetic resources to improve the farmers' nutrition and livelihood security” under the Scheduled Castes sub-plan scheme of Government of India was successfully conducted by ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ganjam-I, Bhanjanagar, Odisha. The Program was organized on 15th March, 2023 at Polasara Block. A total of 100 identified farmers including 84 women farmers from Polasara block participated in the program. Shri KC Murmu, OAS, Block Development Officer, Polasara graced the function as the Chief Guest. Inputs like knapsack sprayers, sickles, spades, saplings, paddy seeds were distributed to the farmers. Various aspects of land conservation and its socio-economic importance were also explained. Research-based practices in agriculture were highlighted during the programme. The program was conducted by Dr. DR Pani and Dr. Smita Lenka of ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources and Dr. Sutanu Kumar Satpathy and Dr. PK Panda of KVK, Bhanjnagar. Agriculture officer and Block Technology Manager were present among the other dignitaries.
