The Swachh Bharat Mission is one of the most successful  initiatives taken by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Govt. of India. ICAR-NBPGR has taken initiatives and contributed from time to time to make it a success. In compliance to Government’s decision of celebrating Swachhta Pakhwara beginning 16th May 2016 all over the country, ICAR-NBPGR staff took a Swacchta pledge on May 16, 2016 followed by cleanliness drive within and around the campus.
As per the Director’ directives, the series of other important activities which are being taken up include:
- Construction of a scientifically designed compost pit for the organic waste
- Organization of a lecture from eminent environmentalist/ any other expert.
- Face lifting of the entire campus (white washing and painting of the premises)
- Cleaning of both old and new campus.
- Cleaning up of the passage between NBPGR and IARI campus and to take measures to avoid dumping of garbage/waste material outside the wall.
- Regular cleaning of rooms/ labs/ work place by the staff of the Bureau.
The cleanliness activities are also being taken up at Regional Stations of the Bureau.
