Shri Gyanesh Bharti, Joint Secretary & National Project Coordinator UNEP-GEF Project, Ministry of Environment & Forests and Climate Change, Govt. of India, visited ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi on 21st January, 2016.

His visit was to discuss the   further activities related to GMO Detection Research Centre established under the Strengthening of Existing Capacities for LMO Detection activities in the UNEP-GEF Supported Phase-II Capacity Building Project on Biosafety. The centre with chambers for unidirectional flow of GMO detection facilities as per ISO/IEC17025:2005, to maintain contamination-free environment and optimum temperature with restricted entry, would provide technical services for detection of LMOs to the regulatory bodies. Technical advice with regard to method development and validation to other LMO detection laboratories in the country would also be provided.
