Training on Management of Plant Genetic Resources of Fruit Crops from 22-25 March 2017 organised at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi in collaboration with ICAR-AICRP (Fruits), Bangeluru

A Training course on "Management of Plant Genetic Resources of Fruit Crops" for the Scientists of ICAR-AICRP on Fruits from 22-25 March 2017 in collaboration with AICRP-Fruits was organised at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi. 32 participant representing various AICRP fruits canters from various parts of India have joined this training. Padam Shri Dr. K. L. Chadha, Ex DDG (Hort. Sci.) and National Professor inaugurated the training programme as the Chief Guest. Dr. Chadha in his key note address highlighted the need for the management of plant genetic resources of fruit crops and strengthening the human resource development in this area. Dr. W.S. Dhillon, ADG (Hort. Sci.), Project Director, AICRP-Fruits Dr. Prakash Patil and Dr Kuldeep Singh, Director, ICAR-NBPGR were also present in this Inaugural function and highlighted the need for management of PGR of fruit crops. During this short training course 17 lectures, 4 interactive session and field visit was organised and all the aspects of PGR management were covered. Valedictory Function was held on 25.03.2017 afternoon and Dr. R.R. Hanchinal, Chairperson, PPV and FRA was the Chief Guest at this occasion. Chief Guest highlighted the role of PPV and FRA in the management of genetic resources and farmers participation in various such activities. Project Director, AICRP (Fruits) appreciated the role of NBPGR in capacity building in PGR management and expressed his great satisfaction on successful organisation of this highly desirable training to the partners of AICRP (Fruits).
