Salient Achievements:
  • Identification of 27 genetic stocks of wheat, barley, lentil  and pearlmillet
  • Identification and release of one lentil and two mungbean varieties.
  • Development of core and mini-core set in wheat based on morphological characters that can be further utilized in association mapping and allele mining
  • Development of reference set for terminal heat tolerance in wheat based on screening of entire wheat germplasm of National Gene Bank (NGB) and identification of heat tolerant germplasm
  • Development of reference set in wheat for biotic stress tolerance (Spot blotch, rust diseases) and abiotic stress tolerance (salinity and drought stress) based on multi-location evaluation
  • Root architecture study in wheat translocation lines and Aegilops spp.
  • Identification of trait specific germplasm in wheat, maize and pearlmillet
  • Cross genera transferability in lentil and Vigna using SSR, ISSR, URP markers; diversity and genetic relatedness study in lentil and pigeonpea using RAPD and  SSR markers; development of primers (EST based SSRs) in lentil for screening of mapping population ; development of mutation induced population in Vigna
