Salient Achievements:

Dr SP Singh Transfer NCIPM, Maharuli

Salient achievements:
1. Developed a number of artificial diets for mass rearing of Bihar hairy catterpiller, Spilosoma obliqua Walker and Lady bird beetle, Coccinella septumpunctata in laboratory.
2. A number of growth and developmental parameters including detail life table studies of mustard sawfly, Athalia proxima Klug was carried out on 16 different crucifers.
3. Worked out several principles of controlled atmosphere and fumigation techniques for an effective pest management against resistant insect-pests population of stored grain.
4. An effective data base on wheat crop was created at national level through survey and monitoring of insect-pests, diseases and weeds in major wheat growing states of India.
5. More than 70 bio-efficacy, phytotoxicity and residue field trials (replicated) of various pesticidal formulations against insect-pests of cotton, paddy, wheat and other cereals, sugarcane, oilseeds and vegetables as well as bioassay trials of pesticides at laboratory level sponsored by various National and Multi-national agrochemical companies were carried out as per standard protocol.
6. As a collaborator, developed three Rapeseed-mustard varieties namely NRCHB-506, NRCHB-101 and NRCYS-05-02 at ICAR-DRMR, Bharatpur. These varieties adopted by farmers on large sacle and commercialized.
7. Several insecticides and bio-products were evaluated and recommended for safe and effective management of insect-pest of rapeseed-mustard.
8. As a faculty member, organized training programme on Pesticide Data Requirement for Registration of Pesticides.
9. Developed a reliable technique for the screening of crucifers against mustard aphid, Lipaphis erysimi Kaltenback
10. Screened a number of germplasm of rapeseed-mustard and wild crucifers against insect-pests of rapeseed-mustard.
11. Contributed in dissemination of plant protection technologies in oilseeds through various radio talks, seminar, symposia, farmer fairs, training programme etc.
12. Quarantine processing of exotic and indigenous germplasm accessions as well as trial material entries of various crops and their wild relatives (several lakhs samples) for their safe exchange across the countries through detection, identification of insect-pests and salvaging of infected/infested germplasms and planting materials was carried out.
13. Effective thermal treatments were developed against rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae.
