Salient Achievements:
  • Associated with establishment of TCCU (erstwhile National Facility for Plant Tissue Culture Repository) and Management of In Vitro Genebank at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi.
  • Development/refinement of in vitro cryopreservation protocol for diverse crops viz., alliums, Cicer microphyllum, Dahlia cv. and Gladiolus cv.
  • Cryobanking of vegetatively-propagated Allium germplasm resources at ICAR-NBPGR employing new vitrification-based techniques.
  • Cost-effective conservation in alliums., Dahlia cv. and Gladiolus cv.
  • Induction of in vitro storage organs in alliums and Gladiolus for effective conservation.
  • Short-term storage of in vitro propagules (encapsulated shoot bases/in vitro bulblets /in vitro corms) in a cryovial, without nutrient medium, for facilitating germplasm exchange and ease of handling during transport in alliums and gladiolus.
