Salient Achievements:

 

 

  1. Established the first base collection of Musa genetic resources (in cryobank) in India.
  2. Developed/refined cryopreservation protocols in Musa cultivars and wild species.
  3. Facilitated trait-specific introductions of exotic Musa germplasm (>100 accessions), their in vitro conservation, cryopreservation and adoption of selected cultivars.
  4. Refined plant regeneration of somatic embryos derived from cell suspension of plantains.
  5. Developed low-cost in vitro conservation protocols in banana, ginger, turmeric and cardamom germplasm.
  6. Developed synseeds for in vitro short-term storage and exchange of ginger germplasm.
  7. Induction of in vitro storage organs for conservation of vegetatively propagated crops.
  8. Protocol developed for in vitro plant regeneration and conservation of wild species of Curcuma
