Salient Achievements:

Cultivar Identification and Molecular Diversity Assessment using DNA Markers: Actively involved in the DNA fingerprinting of Indian crop varieties for their unique identification. DNA fingerprinting protocols for molecular techniques such as SSR, SRAP, ISSR, AFLP, RAPD etc. have been developed in number of crops including cotton, jute, rice, wheat, maize, lentil, peas, sorghum etc.

Hybridity and Seed Purity Testing: Identified various microsatellite markers for seed purity testing of popular cotton hybrids grown in India. Also identified markers for true hybridity testing of crosses in lentil and chickpea.

DNA Fingerprinting Service: Rendered DNA Fingerprinting service to over two dozens of public and private sector organizations. This is a regular activity and resource generation is an inherent feature of this activity.

Human Resource Development: Trained over hundred of  researchers, students, scientists etc. in the area of DNA fingerprinting from various public and private sector organizations from within the country and abroad.

Officer-In-Charge, Library (2010-13): Served NBPGR’s library in the capacity of Officer-In-Charge.  Facilitaed the purchases of various online databases, national and international journals, books and periodicals for the library.

Teaching and Training:Actively involved in teaching courses PGR 605 and PGR 691 in the Division of Plant Genetic Resources. Also guiding M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in the same discipline.
