1. Chamba (Himachal Pradesh)

A. Plant genetic Resources
  • Making available good quality seed of elite landraces/indigenous varieties of maize (e.g. Chitku-popping type), rice (e.g. Sukaradhan-red), black gram and rajmash (taste, aroma and cooking quality), grain amaranth (high protein & mineral nutrition) and other species
  • Purification of and participatory selection in landraces/indigenous varieties.
  • Adding value by purification, grading, labelling and packaging of the produce for increased market value (e.g. in maize, red rice, rajmash, blackgram, amaranth, walnut, apricot, and local wild edibles - raspberry and black berry).
  • Rainwater/rooftop water harvesting; establishing model dugout poly-lined tanks.
  • Vermicomposting for utilizing local animal and plant waste products.
B. Animal genetic resources
  • Identification, conservation and improvement of local livestock breed (sheep, goat and cattle); improvement of non-descript livestock
  • Disease surveillance, monitoring, diagnostics and prophylaxis for livestock health management
  • Improving the nutrient utilization of locally available feed and fodder resources (urea treatment, complete feed blocks, total mixed rations, strategic supplementation of area specific micro/macro nutrients)
  • Adding value / value addition to animal and products such as milk, meat, wool, etc.
C. Fish genetic resources
  • Propagation-assisted establishment of indigenous fishes (trout and masher) for conservation and stock enhancement.
  • Integrated fish farming models (carp culture) with rabbitary, poultry and vermin composting.
  • Post-harvest processing and value addition to trout for distant markets
2. Udaipur (Rajasthan)

A. Plant genetic resources
  • Making available good quality seed of elite landraces/indigenous varieties of maize (e.g. malan, sathi), mustard, foxtail millet, horse gram (high protein and mineral nutrition) and ajwain (high market value).
  • Purification of and participatory selection in landraces/indigenous varieties.
  • Adding value by purification, grading, labelling and packaging of produce of elite landraces/varieties for increased market value.
  • Rainwater/rooftop water harvesting; establishing model dugout poly-lined tanks.
  • Vermicomposting for utilizing local animal and plant waste products.
B. Animal genetic resources
  • Identification, conservation and improvement of local breeds of livestock (sheep, goat, cattle, buffalo) and poultry; improvement of non-descript livestock
  • Disease surveillance, monitoring, diagnostics and prophylaxis for livestock health management
  • Improving the nutrient utilization of locally available feed and fodder resources (urea treatment, complete feed blocks, total mixed rations, strategic supplementation of area specific micro/macro nutrients)

C. Fish genetic resources
  • Captive breeding and propagation of indigenous species (Labeo rajasthanicus, minor carps, Channa marulius)
  • Integrated aquaculture (fish and prawn) with agriculture, livestock and poultry

  • Fish culture systems in micro-water sheds and recycling of wastewater for aquaculture
3. Adilabad (Andhra Pradesh)

A. Plant genetic resources
  • Making available good quality seed of elite landraces/indigenous varieties of sorghum (e.g. Maldandi- parent extensively used crop improvement), cotton (Gossypium arboretum- Mudhole/ Gaorani/ Erra pathi-with greater pest resistance compared to G. hirsutum varieties), black gram (e.g. Barre minumulu, Konda minumulu, Lal urad, Nalla minumulu, Saadaa minumulu, Teega minumulu, Toppa minumulu - with green/ red coloured bold seeds and twining habit preferred locally), green gram (e.g. Balinta pesalu, Dodda pesalu, Kitki pesalu, Konda pesalu, Mentem pesalu, Nalla pesalu, Sanna pesalu - landraces with ethno medicinal values) and rice landraces (e.g. Chittimuthyalu, Kakirekkala vadlu (scented)).
  • Purification of and participatory selection in landraces/indigenous varieties.
  • Adding value by purification, grading, labelling and packaging of produce of elite landraces/varieties for increased market value.
