Agro-ecological zones or Soil map
Click to select any of the five CROPS and also select either AEZ (for agro-ecological
zones) or SOIL. Click on the “GET MAP” button at the bottom, desired map showing
collection sites of the selected crop appears in the view area
Climatic variable and Time period
Click to select any of the five CROPS. Select a climate variable: either TEMPERATURE
or RAINFALL. Select whether you want to view “CURRENT” or “2020s” or “2050s” predictions.
Click on the “GET MAP” button at the bottom, desired map showing collection sites
of the selected crop appears in the view area
Download maps
After a map is rendered based on your selection, click on the DOWNLOAD logo on the
bottom right of the map to save the map to your computers
Description and data source:
- Indian map was procured from a commercial source and is presumed to be developed
as per 2001 census map
- Soil data and description soil map national data set (2010) was available at a source
scale 1:2m from National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organization. Physiographical
divisions as per NBSS&LUP and soil taxonomy classification as per USDA. Map source
Year : 1981
- Agro-ecological zones (AEZ) were as per National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee.
Based on 50 years of climate data and an up-to-date soil database, the country has
been divided into different AEZs. Each AEZ is a uniform in terms of physiography,
climate, length of growing period and soil type.
- Current means 1950-2000; 2020s means 2010-2039 and 2050s (2020-2049). Temperature
and precipitation data were obtained from the Worldclim database for current
climate (1950 – 2000) and from CSIRO General Circulation Model for near future (2010-2049).
