- What kind of analysis it offer to visiting users?
There are two type of graphical analysis is available on the portal by using Browser Data Application.

- What is the methodology of characterising the NRRD accessions?
15,000 selected rice germplasm were circulated in batch of 3000 accessions, to each center, then same batches were circulated for two more years by using following plan for flow of material among partners center.

Plan for flow of material
- Can we analyse the characterisation data within the portal?
YES, Characterisation data can be analysed within the portal by using Browse Data and Search Data applications.
- Does portal contains passport information of NRRD accessions?
Yes, NRRD portal contains passport information on two fields (i) Cultivar (ii) Location (e.g. cultivar: moti basmati, Location: Madhya Pradesh)

Passport information can be obtained accession wise, from the result page of Search Data application by mouse over on accession number, as shown in above figure.
- How much material has been characterised in NRRD?
15,000 accessions has been characterised three time by five centers in batch of 3000 accessions per center per year so in total 45,000 accessions has been characterised in NRRD.
- How many standard descriptors have been used in NRRD?
There are 30 standard descriptors (morphological characters) are used in NRRD for characterisation. 19 descriptors are qualitative and 11 are qualitative. These descriptors are selected from International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). List of descriptors are as follows:

YES, characterisation data can be queried by Browser Data Application by using following two interfaces:

- What is the ultimate aim of characterisation in NRRD?
NRRD is the three stage database development activity.
STAGE-I Characterisation of 15,000 rice germplasm
STAGE-II Evaluation of accessions selected from characterisation set
STAGE-III Reference set from evaluated accessions for biotic Stresses and abiotic stresses.
- What is the probable size of trait specific core?
Size of trait specific core is 1548 accessions.
- Is there any idea about evaluating core for specific traits?
Core of 1548 accessions has been evaluated for following 7 Biotic and 3 Abiotic stresses by five centers for one season.

NRRD Evaluation Traits
- Can I use this material for selection of trait specific germplasm?
YES, Search Data application provides facility of trait based selection of germplasm. Following steps can be used select trait specific germplasm.
Open SEARCH DATA > Advance Search > Select trait from list (Qualitative / Quantitative) > select states or enter values > press add to query > press See Result
- In case, I want unique accession identified by this database, can I place order through this portal?
No, for further information, please contact Director N.B.P.G.R.
- Can I contact NRRD evaluation centres for germplasm?
YES, each NRRD partner has a web page in the portal under TEAM heading, evaluation partners can be contacted from there.
- NRRD portal contain Login facility on home page and FMS. Why this facility is for? And who all can use it?
File Management System Facility (Download) under NRRD portal contains all documents and data of NRRD. Annual Reports and Publication are publically accessible and rest of the categories has login based access. This facility is only available to NRRD partners.
- Can I search my query with in the document (pdf, word &ppt files) available under file management system on the portal?
YES, portal search is available at top right side of home page, searched term searches the web pages, documents and data and output is organised in Web Pages and Documents categories, as shown:

- Is there any provision of data access / information on molecular characterisation data of core?
YES, molecular characterisation data of core accessions can be accessed by using Browse Data application; search term entered also search in to molecular data and present the result about molecular characterisation data under molecular TAB.

- Is there any way for getting idea of the expression of each character across centres?
YES, expression of each character across center can be viewed by using Browse Data application > Character Wise Graphs, a character can be selected from drop down list then a graph is generated consisting expression of that character in five centers, by clicking on center name from table application will open all character performance for center.
- What kinds of documents are available for general users?
Annual Reports and publication created under NRRD.
- Can I download the characterisation data, year wise and centre wise?
No, only NRRD partners or authorised user can this information.
- How can I contact NRRD development team, in case I have difficulty understanding some feature of portal?
Team can be contacted from Contact Us page, available at Bottom bar of Home page.
- Can I copy the contents of the pages for my use?
NO
