Director General of ICAR Examined the Research work of NBPGR Regional Station, Jodhpur

The Secretary DARE and Director General of ICAR Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra visited the Regional Station of National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, Jodhpur on August 13, 2017. He visited research field and Gene Bank of the Station and interacted with the Scientists, Drs. Om Vir Singh, Kartar Singh and Neelam Shekhawat of the Station. He examined and appreciated the research achievements of the station and emphasized that NBPGR scientists must play a larger role to mitigate the adverse impact of climate change on crops in arid region. He advised that already identified unique accessions of field and horticultural crops like stone less ber, fruit fly resistant ber, diseases & insect resistant accessions of arid legumes must be registered with the NBPGR immediately. He encouraged the scientists to work hard for the welfare of farmers. The notable persons from ICAR accompanied him were Dr. J.S. Samra former DDG (NRM), Dr. A. Bhaskar (ADG) NRM., Director CAZRI., P.C. Pearl Millet and other Heads of the Divisions and Regional Stations of CAZRI, representatives from the Agricultural University Jodhpur. Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra also planted a sapling of tree in the lawn of Station.
