Observance of International Women’s Day at ICAR-NBPGR on March 8, 2019

The International Women’s Day was celebarated with the active participation of all women staff on March 8, 2019 under the chairmanship of Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Director, ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), New Delhi. Dr Neelam Sharma, Chairperson, Women Welfare Committee welcomed and congratulated all on this day. The programme commenced with the telecast of Hon’ble PM’s address on the occasion. Each participant shared their views and experiences about the role and status of women in every sphere of life. It was opined that imparting education and changing mind set is prerequisite to empower women at each strata of society. Each member felt that the ICAR-NBPGR family is fortunate to have healthy work environment without gender bias. A poem about ‘Nari Shakti’ was also recited by Mr K K Sharma, Sr FAO. On this occasion, Director Dr Kuldeep Singh also emphasized on supporting education of girl child, collectively or individually, besides other measures for effectively empowering future generation. The celebarations ended with a vote of thanks to chair and all participants by Dr Lalit Arya.
