ICAR-NBPGR Regional Station Akola participated in State level Agriculture Exhibition (AGROTECH- 2019) during 27-29 December 2019 at Dr. PDKV, Akola, Maharashtra

ICAR-NBPGR, Regional Station, Akola participated in Agriculture Exhibition organized by Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth on occasion of 121st birth anniversary of late Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh in collaboration with State Department of Agriculture and Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Maharashtra during 27-29 December 2019. ICAR-NBPGR Akola exhibited seed variability conserved in MTS at Akola of Oilseeds, Pulses, Millets, Amaranth and specimens of Vegetable crops and Crop Wild Relatives (CWRs). Farmers were informated about the need to conserve our traditional seeds and diversify the cropping system by inclusion of minor pulses, millets and potential crops to attain nutritional and health security. More than seven lakh (7.0 lakh) farmers/students/industry people visited the exhibition during 27-29 December 2019. The farmers appreciated the efforts carried out by National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR). Many young farmers and students first time saw the millets , minor pulses and minor oil seeds. Few farmers requested to supply seeds of released varieties of horsegram, linseeds, niger , grain amaranth and millets. Delegates on the day on inauguration (27th December) appreciated the stall of ICAR-NBPGR and asked to participate every year in such exhibitions. Dr. Sunil S. Gomashe (Scientist), Ms. Smita D. Karale (LDC), Sh. Rakesh Lathar (Technician) and Mr. Pawan Wathore (Project Assistant) of ICAR-NBPGR, RS, Akola did considerable efforts to organise the NBPGR exhibition stall at Agrotech-2019.
