One day farmer’s awareness camps on Role of fruit diversification & pseudocereals in nutritional security under SCSP scheme was organized by ICAR-NBPGR, Shimla in collaboration with KVK, Kandaghatt (Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry Nauni, Solan) at Satrol Panchayat, Block Kandagat, Distt. Solanon 07.02.2020. Around 140 farmers from Ghat Kumala, Kashi Patta, Satrol, Banjni, Dablog, Badhrao, Kumhalli, Shalah, Kumhali of Satrol Panchyat attended the programme. The main objective of the programmes was to sensitize the farmers regarding role of fruits including wild/minor fruits and pseudocereals for nutritional security. Dr. Narender Negi coordinator of the programme welcomed the dignitaries and deliver the talk on conservation and utilization of fruits with the focused on role of wild fruits in nutritional security, he also address the gathering on various operations like planting system, training, pruning and nursery management of fruit crops. Sh. Rahul Chandora (Scientist) deliver the lecture on conservation, utilization and popularization of pseudocerals among farmers to encounter the malnutrition. Dr. Arti Shukla, SMS KVK Kandaghat delivered the talk on integrated pest and disease management in horticultural crops. In feedback session, series of questions were raised by the farmers and experts satisfied them with the solutions of their queries. In this programme a set of six plants (2 peach, 2 plum and 2 apricot), 1 set of gardening tools (Post-harvest pruner, sickle, shovel, rake, transplanter) and literature were distributed to 110 farmers identified by village panchyat. At the end of the programme working lunch & tea was also arranged to the participants. Smt. Sukh Dayi Tanwar village Pradhan and other members of the panchayat attended the programme. From the station Sh. Ram Chander and Sh. Desh Raj assisted in organizing this programme.
