One day farmer’s awareness camps on Role of fruit diversification & pseudocereals in nutritional security under SCSP scheme was organized by ICAR-NBPGR, Shimla in collaboration with ICAR-IARI, Shimla & KVK, Kandaghatt at Ananadpur Panchayat, Block Mashobra, Distt. Shimla on 05.02.2020. Around 150 farmers from Pajail, Kati Patti, Kanoun, Shilgaon, Bakradi, Barob, Jalaghi, Chamrog of Anandpur Panchyat attended the programme. The main objective of the programmes was to sensitize the farmers regarding role of fruits including wild/minor fruits and pseudocereals for nutritional security. Dr. Narender Negi coordinator of the programme welcomed the dignitaries and delivers the talk on conservation and utilization of fruits with the focused on role of wild fruits in nutritional security. Dr. Mohar Singh, Pr. Scientist & OIC of the station encouraged farmers for the registration of farmer’s variety under Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority and various awards for the individual level and for community of farmers by GOI. Sh. Rahul Scientist delivered the lecture on conservation, utilization and popularization of pseudocerals and minor pulses for dietary diversification. Dr. K Pramanick, Pr. Scientist ICAR-IARI, Shimla and Dr. Bunty, SMS, KVK Kandaghat delivered the lecture on system of planting in stone fruits, winter operations such as pruning, training and nursery management. In feedback session, series of questions were raised by the farmers and experts satisfied them with the solutions of their queries. In this programme a set of six plants each (2 peach, 2 plum and 2 apricot), 1 set of gardening tools (Post-harvest pruner, sickle, shovel, rake, transplanter) and literature were distributed to 100 farmers identified by village Panchyat. At the end of the programme working lunch & tea was also arranged to the participants. Sh. Mahender Thakur Pardhan village Pradhan and other members of the panchayat attended the programme. From the station Sh. Ram Chander and Sh. Desh Raj assisted in organizing this programme.
