Memorandum of Undertaking signed between National Medicinal Plants Board and ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources on 06-07-2020.

The ICAR-NBPGR is the nodal agency responsible for collection, conservation and management of plant genetic resources of all agri-horticultural crops through a network of ten regional stations located in different agro-climatic zones of India and headquarter at New Delhi. National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) under Ministry of Ayush is engagaed in the collection of distinct Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Genetic Resources through NMPB funded projects of social and economic importance. NMPB would like to ensure a long-term safe storage of MAPGRs by depositing these at the authorized institute, namely, ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi. Hence a MoU was signed on 6th July 2020 for the safe conservation of these resources in long-term storage module in the National Gene bank and acquiring hands-on training on plant germplasm conservation techniques to the working group of NMPB.

NMPB and ICAR-NBPGR are committed to serve the national interests through conservation of germplasm on long-term basis, safely and cost-effectively for present and future generations to ensure the social and economic security.
