Farmers Meet for creating awareness on climate resilient crops on 28.09.2021 at ICAR-NBPGR Issapur Farm

A Farmers-Scientists Meet was organized on 28th September, 2021 at Issapur Experimental farm, ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), New Delhi under “Climate Resilient Agriculture” theme for creating climate awareness amongst farmers. In this program Dr. Kuldeep Tripathi, OIC, Issapur Farm, Division of Germplasm Evaluation, ICAR-NBPGR briefed about various activities being carried out by Bureau for escalating agriculture in India. Dr. RK Gautam, Head DGE, ICAR-NBPGR, while addressing the farmers told that climate change has hampered the crop productivity in last decades. He told farmers to adopt climate resilient varieties and crops to avoid damages caused due to climate change. The expert talks on crop production and management was organized in view of coming Rabi season which were given by Dr Ishwar Singh (Mustard), Dr Gayacharan (Chickpea) and Dr KP Mohapatra (Minor Fruits and Multi-purpose Tree species). Farmers actively participated in discussion session and appreciated the efforts made by ICAR-NBPGR in agro-biodiversity management. Subsequently, seeds of vegetable crops and planting materials (Tulsi and Aloe vera) were distributed to farmers.
