A webinar on Women's Cancer Awareness

A webinar was organized for Women's Cancer Awareness by Women Welfare Committee, ICAR-NBPGR in the afternoon of November 9, 2021 with 100% participation on Zoom platform and the video is also available on YouTube channel of ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director, ICAR-NBPGR addressed and greeted the Chief Guest, the Guest of Honour, distinguished speakers and all the participants. Dr Gurinderjit, Head, DGR introduced and presented a brief life sketch of the Chief Guest, Mrs. Kalpana Mohapatra (President, Pusa Institute Ladies Association and President, NASC Ladies Association) and Prof. Anurag Srivastava (Former Professor and Head, Department of Surgical Disciplines, A.I.I.M.S. & Medical Director, BALCO Medical Centre, Raipur (Chhattisgarh). Dr. Lalit Arya, Principal Scientist, DGR & Member, Women Welfare Committee, ICAR-NBPGR introduced the Guest of Honour (Dr. Malavika Dadlani, Former Joint Director (Res.) ICAR-IARI) and Dr. Kamala Venkateswaran, Principal Scientist, RS, Hyderabad, presented a brief biodata of Dr. Roopa Hariprasad (Scientist E, Division of Clinical Oncology, ICMR-National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida (UP). Dr. Roopa Hariprasad delivered a very informative, elaborate talk on “Cervical Cancer: Can it be prevented?” And Prof. Anurag Srivastava presented an educational and enlightening lecture on Prevention of Breast Cancer. Both the lectures were followed by a very fruitful interactive session. The speakers stressed on opting regular screening tests and timely vaccination to detect and prevent certain cancers. Role of Satvik food and regular exercise to prevent cancer was also emphasized. The Chief Guest, Mrs Kalpana Mohapatra, and the Guest of Honour, Dr. Malavika Dadlani, were pleased and congratulated ICAR-NBPGR staff for the initiative taken for generating awareness on Women’s health and welfare. The program ended with a warm and formal vote of thanks by Ms. Sangeeta Gambhir, AAO & Member, Women Welfare Committee, ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi.
