Wild Rice Biodiversity Heritage Site notified at Borjuli, Assam

In 2018, ICAR-NBPGR researchers found significant populations of O. rufipogon in Sonitpur & Udalguri districts of Assam. Bureau’s efforts have led to the notification of a Wild Rice Biodiversity Heritage Site at Borjuli on 7 May 2022 by the Govt. of Assam. ICAR-NBPGR believes that it is extremely important to conserve the wild gene pool & invites collaborators & partners to carry out basic studies, develop systematic conservation programs & to utilize genetic resources in crop improvement.
