ICAR-NBPGR, Regional Station Bhowali distributed elite planting material of horticultural crops from 11th to 20th January, 2023.

Regional station Bhowali multiplied elite germplasm of horticultural crops and distributed them to the farmers of Uttarakhand as per the approved rate for 2023. Approximately 3835 grafted or rooted planting material including kiwi, peach, plum, apricot etc. were supplied to the farmers, State horticultural department and Krishi Vigyan Kendra for cultivation as well as establishment of mother block. A total 194 indenters have come to collect their allotted planting materials from different parts of Uttarakhand. Technical know-how with respect to orchard establishment of temperate fruits (layout, pit preparation, planting, training, pruning) were also provides to the farmers. The farmers were more keen to know the various operation carried out in the kiwifruit cultivation as this crop is getting popular and scientific intervention are very much required for its cultivation. Dr. K.M. Rai, Scientist (Horticulture) provided on field training on layout and field preparation, planting, training (T-Bar), pruning for the kiwifruit and Mr. Anju Sharma (Technician) assisted for these operations. Altogether, Rs. 4,27,000/- revenue was generated through the sale of the planting material.
