An "Awareness-cum-training program on plant genetic resources conservation for improving nutritional and livelihood security of farmers" was successfully organised under Scheduled Castes sub-plan scheme of Government of India in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ganjam-I, Bhanjanagar, Odisha on 17th March 2023 at Jeerabadi, in Jagannath Prasad Block. The program was attended by a total of 100 identified farmers including 60 women farmers from villages of Jagannathprasad block. Shri Anup Kumar, OAS, Block Development Officer, Jagannathprasad graced the program as chief guest. Inputs like Knapsack sprayer, sickle, spade, saplings, paddy seed were distributed to the farmers. Different aspects of on-farm conservation of landraces and their socio-economic importance were also explained. Farming based practices were highlighted during the program. The program was conducted by Dr D R Pani and Dr Smita Lenka from ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources and Dr Sutanu Kumar Satpathy and Dr P K Panda from KVK, Ganjam-I, Bhanjanagar. Agriculture Officer, Block Technology Manager of Jagannathprasad and the Sarpanch of Jirabadi were also present among other dignitaries.
