“Van Mahotsav” organized at Issapur Farm on 07 July, 2023

The ICAR-National Bureau of Plants Genetic Resources, New Delhi organized the “Van Mahotsav” programme under SC-SP at the Issapur Farm, New Delhi on July 7,2023. Programme was attended by 50 Farmers belonging to scheduled caste of nearby villages. Dr. K.P. Mahapatra, welcomed farmers and informed about the “Van Mahotsav” programme and also moderated the programme. Dr. R K Gautam, Head, DGE explained the role of NBPGR in plant genetic resource management and aware farmers on crop diversity and plant genetic resources. Dr. S.K. Kaushik, nodal officer, SC-SP, enlightened the farmers about scheduled caste sub plan of Government of India and possible benefits farmers can get to SC-SP plan. Chief guest of programme, Dr. G. P Singh, Director, ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi emphasized the role of afforestation in sustainable socio-economic growth of farmers. He also expressed his interest in developing farmer database to ensure transparent benefit transfer to SC farmers. Tree plantation was also carried out by Director, NBPGR as well as all the Heads viz, Dr. R K Gautam (Head, DGE), Dr. P. K Singh (Head, DPEGC), Dr. Anju Mahendru Singh (Head, DGC) and Dr. Rakesh Singh (Head, DGR). Farming kits and tree saplings were distributed by Director, NBPGR to SC farmers.
