Plantation by NBPGR RS Bhowali staff on 17.07.2023 on the occasion of Uttarakhand’s Festival ‘Harela’

The local festival ‘Harela’ which is dedicated to the nature is celebrated on first day of Savan month in Uttarakhand. This festival is also dedicated to agriculture. There is a special importance of planting trees during this festival as it is believed that the tree planted on this day gets rooted easily. Primarily, this festival is for conservation of nature through tree plantation by locals. On this occasion the employees of ICAR-NBPGR Regional Station Bhowali along with local people planted saplings of oak, Xanthoxylum and Deodar at Niglat.
