National Science Day celebrated at ICAR-NBPGR

ICAR- National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi celebrated the National Science Day on February 28, 2017. National Science Day is celebrated all over India on 28th February every year to commemorate the invention of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman in the year 1928. The theme of this year (2017) is “Science and Technology for Specially Abled Persons”. The event was organized in association with the Rotary Club of Delhi Maurya (RCDM) and children of Vision Special School, Rohini were invited. On the occasion, in addition to the children and their special educators, Mr. Ashwani Kumar Bhalla, President, RCDM; Mr. Sachin Gupta, Chancellor of Sanskriti University and Secretary, RCDM; Mr. Mukesh G. Gupta, Chairperson, Vision Foundation; Mrs. Kusum Anchal Gupta, Chairperson Vision School also participated. The Director and staff of ICAR-NBPGR encouraged the special children on the occasion. The children participated with great enthusiasm and interest in all the activities organised by the institute. They gave four enthralling performances including two patriotic songs and the national anthem for specially-abled. The performances were highly appreciated by the staff of the institute. The children actively participated in a drawing, colouring activity and quiz organised by the institute. Bureau also organized an exhibition and displayed posters for the children. The vocational products prepared by the children were also kept on display. The staff evinced keen interest in these products. It proved to be a memorable event that touched every body's heart.
