Salient Achievements:
  • A total of Thirty-Six (37) germplasm collection missions were carried out  as Team Leader, in peninsular India covering South East Coastal Zone, parts of Eastern and Western Ghats and  5050 accessions of valuable genetic resources belonging to cereals, millets, pulses, vegetables, medicinal plants, fruit crops including banana, phalsa etc., were collected.
  • Promising Genetic Stocks (16 genetic stocks) were co-developed and registered with Indian Council of Agricultural Research for unique traits in agri-horticultural crops viz., Sorghum, Blackgram, Linseed, Bottle gourd, Chilli, Dolichos bean, Cowpea and others.
  • Contributed to the characterization and evaluation of horticultural crops such as brinjal (> 1200 accessions), Tomato (360 accessions), Jack bean and other crops and identified promising lines.
  • Contributed to the adoption of new concepts for plant genetic resources management in India and successfully implemented the Geographical Information System (GIS) - DIVA-GIS, FloraMap and others for the diversity analysis and mapping of crop genetic resources.
  • Facilitated supply/sharing of germplasm of over 3000 accessions of agri-horticultural crops to collaborators in South India for research purpose.
  • Published over 250 publications consisting of Journal articles & Book Chapters (153); book (1-co-authored); Professional abstracts (82); Popular articles, flyer, brochures (17).
