Contributed in research and infrastructure development at ICAR-CPRI, Shimla and its regional stations located at Kufri and Modipuram. Served as Joint Director, ICAR-CPRI Campus, Modipuram, Meerut, UP. Major research contributions include development of three late blight resistant varieties, three parental line registrations including elite ‘triplex’ PVY resistant line, hybrids having combined resistances to late blight, PVY and cyst nematodes, development of mapping population and initiation of marker assisted selection for late blight resistance in potatoes, broadened the genetic base of cultivated potato by incorporating gene pool from wild/semi cultivated Solanum species through development of meiotic tetraploids. Developed and introduced more than a dozen high yielding late blight and virus resistant hybrids into AICRP (P) for multi-location testing.
He has published 125 research articles including 43 research papers in national and inter-national journals. Organized several training programmes for farmers/ agricultural/horticultural officers and kisan melas.
